Emmanuel Adebayor appears set to stay at Arsenal following talks with Arsene Wenger over his future.
Adebayor has been strongly linked with a move to Milan and his agent Stephane Courbis this week hinted that he would consider such a switch.
However, Wenger has always stressed that he does not want to sell Adebayor and the Togo international himself has also played down talk of an exit.
"My future with Arsenal has never been in doubt and I want to assure fans I will be here for many years," Adebayor said in The Sun.
"My agent has met with coach Arsene Wenger about a new deal and I am happy about how the talks are going so fans can rest assured."
Adebayor only signed a new deal last year but speculation suggest he could be ready to put pen-to-paper on a lucrative contract extension.
Reports in Italy have now stated that Adebayor's transfer to Milan has been shelved.
"For the moment we don't intend to open negotiations for the sale of Emmanuel Adebayor," La Gazzetta quoted a message from Arsenal to Milan as saying.
La Gazzetta also reported that Milan were willing to wait until later in the summer before renewing their interest, to give Wenger time to bring in a replacement.

ade stays villa comes final nasri suppurts midfield and we ave won evrything ha ha ha
Villa is 27 and wenger does not buy 20mill+ players at that age. As gunners we should know wenger now after 10 odd years how he buys and sells. ade will stay we will have vela and ade, RVP and eduardo coming back in pre season. Eduardo was probably the reason why he was waiting on a striker, but i guess he is off the striker market now that lewin has told everyone edu is ready. if edu was not ready he would certainly have bid for someone.(i didn't mention bendtner i dont rate him).
Villa coming in would be an excellent choice but i think we still need Ade, We all know it's our defence that's still a bit shaky and another defensive midfielder wouldn't go amiss. Somehow i got the thinkin that we've lost nasri to A.Madrid. wasn't too sure about him anyway. I think sending Song out on loan is a bit of a miffer though he played really well when he came in for us at the end of the season. Kolo i think will get pushed up to midfield if we get another centre back.
as a gooner i would be delighted to see adebayor depart for a figure around 30 million
especially if david villa came in as a replacement. van persie and villa would be some combo
