Marcus Bent could be walking straight out of Charlton Athletic barely a month after his loan deal at Wigan came to an end.

The striker is rumoured to be about to join the revolution at Hull City, giving him a nice easy route back into top-flight football.

If he joins the Tigers to link up with Dean Windass up front (a strike partnership that promises much innuendo but fails to deliver) then they will be his 11th club in a much-travelled career.

Charlton could also be losing a defender too, as the man with the most Irish name ever, Paddy McCarthy, looks set to move down the road to Crystal Palace for £500,000.

Kyle Lafferty could be steeping down a level by quitting the Championship and moving to the SPL.

The Burnley striker has been linked with a move to Scottish champions Celtic, though let's hope that won't force him to quit playing for Northern Ireland as a result.

QPR are set to splash a meagre portion of their considerable wadge of cash on Preston midfielder Simon Whaley.

Whaley will be moving to Loftus Road if Bernie Ecclestone sends £350,000 in used fifties in the other direction.

Aston Villa aren't short of a bob or two either, and they want to give Sheffield Wednesday £2 million for American defender Franklin Simek.
