LE MANS, France (AFP) - The Peugeot of David Brabham, Alexander Wurz and Marc Gene won the Le Mans 24 hour race here on Sunday to record the car constructor's first victory in the competition since 1993.

The trio beat home another Peugeot driven by Franck Montagny, Stephane Sarrazin and F1 star Sebastien Bourdais while defending champions Rinaldo Capello, Tom Kristensen and Allan McNish in an Audi were third.

It was Audi's first defeat in the race since 1999.

  1. Peugeot simply worked harder this year on the track outside to develop it's race car, versus Audi, which engineered a great R-15(which was not 100% ready for 2009 Le Mans).

2010 should be interesting if Mercedes Benz returns to Le Mans.
