Premier League - Vidic pledges future to United

Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic insists he is staying at Old Trafford.

The no-nonsense centre-back has been linked with a move away from the Premier League champions.

Top of the list of clubs tracking the Serb are Barcelona, and there have been reports of the defender's wife wanting to move to a warmer country as well as his own comments bemoaning the Manchester weather, which he later denied making.

Vidic told the News of the World: "I am very happy here and next season we will start again. I have got no desire to go anywhere."

He added: "People forget that when you join a new league you don't just have to adjust to the country, you also have to adjust to the style of football.

"I feel my game is well adjusted to England now and I want to play a part in a successful team next season. United can make it a record four titles in a row next year."

  1. @ briansharman: Against Barca it wasn't his­ falt,Fletcher made a mistake when he let Etoo to pass­ him and then go slow on the ball.The thing that Etoo­ did will succed against any player (football experts­ said so). And you can see what can happend when he­ doesn't play like against Liverpool when they­ scored 3 goals after Vidic was sent out

Here in Serbia we all know­ that His wife don't like rainy weather in England­ and that she wants to move to warmer country,BUT.... we­ all also know that Vidic rally like Man.Utd and playing­ for him so He is not going anywhere. Only if Manchester­ accept big bid for him,and let him go,than He will be­ feel like he is betrayed and than go.Don't forget­ that he is playing with his heart every game for­ Man.Utd

  7. Harry I think the whole of the football world get sick­ and tired of hearing the 'same old' from­ liverpool fans, they have nothing else to cheer or­ gloat about so they nit-pick and hang on to their­ little glory of beting us.
    If its not that , instead­ you will hear the same old 'next season will be our­ season' they say this every year, yet it never ever­ happens. Scousers untill your team is capable of­ winning some silverware why dont you keep your traps­ shut, you have nothing, absolutely nothing to brag­ because once AGAIN you finished a season trophyless.

Vidic wud easily walk in to dat liverpool team r any­ team 4 dat matter. how can ye go about slating him when­ ur own team consists of players dat would in all­ honestly struggle at championship level..... ngog,­ arbeloa, lucas, benayoun, carragher(past it), riera,­ babel, degan. ur reliance on torres n gerrard is­ pityful.. if one gets injured ye cant win a game, but­ at least ye can use d same old excuse.. oh we werent at­ full strength... in other words ye just are not good­ enough

  12. I am SICK & TIRED of all the noise Liverpool fans­ make about Torres & Gerrard. Ok, so ur team beat­ Man U home & away.... SO? Did they win any medal­ for that? Vidic has won more medals in his Man U career­ than both Torres & Gerrard have in their ENTIRE­ careers. Vidic is one damn good defender- Man U's­ loss to Liverpool & Barcelona not withstanding.­ Liverpool fans shd leave him alone & concentrate on­ how they are going to hold unto their players & buy­ others in their quest to wrest the premiership from Man­ U, which I doubt they can EVER do.

  14. 23. liverpool defenders don't NEED to score goals­ because the strikers and mid-fielders do that for them.­ they scored the most no. of goals in the prem last­ season so your point about defenders scoring is­ irrelavent. and i agree with comment 22. what he is­ trying to say is that vidic doesn't perform well­ when put up against 'better' players like­ messi, torres etc. it wasn't just once either. so­ maybe he is a little over-rated by the press.

    you have mentioned 3 games out of how many? he­ scored against both Chelsea and Inter last season. and­ Liverpool aren't the only big team in England, nor­ the only big team United have faced in Europe. and what­ about the past few seasons where United have dominated­ in England, and last season in Europe? you simply­ cannot justify your point through so little evidence.­ and also tell me, how many Liverpool defenders have­ scored 6 goals in all competitions last season?

    yep. struggled against torres and gerrard home and­ away. got sent off in both games too. and again against­ barca. couldn't deal with eto'o and messi.­ completely bamboozled. don't try to deny it united­ fans. the whole world saw how he struggled in those­ games. over-rated by the media and his own fans.
