Hooper sets sights on promotion

Mon 14 Jul, 02:45 PM

Gary Hooper has set his sights on firing Scunthorpe back into the Championship after completing his move from League One rivals Southend. The 20-year-old signed a three-year deal at Glanford Park on Friday and will make his first appearance in an Iron shirt on Tuesday night when they travel to Brigg Town.

But although he is refusing to set himself a goal target for the new season, Hooper believes the club can win promotion this season.

"Scoring goals is all I want to do," he told the club's official website.

"I haven't set any specific targets yet, but I just want to score.

"I'm confident (of getting promotion), the lads were unlucky to be relegated last season. There's a good team here and I'm sure we can get back up."
