No long deal for Forest chief

Mon 14 Jul, 12:30 PM

Nottingham Forest chairman Nigel Doughty says there are currently no plans to offer Colin Calderwood an improvement on his rolling contract.Calderwood took over at the City Ground two years ago, guiding them to the play-offs in his first year at the helm before securing automatic promotion last season.

But Doughty says an extended contract is not a point of discussion at the moment.

"He has had five years in management and I keep telling him he has failed during three of those years because he has only got his teams into the play-offs," Doughty told the Evening Post.

"He has had two automatic promotions as well though and you can't say fairer than that.

"Colin has a rolling contract, so it is not right to say he only has a year left on his deal."

  1. I agree, he is the best manager for us and one of the best new managers in the football league. Look what recently happened to Paul Ince, first smell of success in the lower division and then he's instantly snapped up by a premiership club. ONLY ONE THING TO SAY TO NIGEL DOUGHTY - GET CALDERWOOD LONG TERM AND GET HIM NOW!!!

  2. Colin Calderwood deserves a long term contract from Forest. He's the best manager Forest have had since Brian Clough. Three play-off's and two promotions in five years with different clubs speaks volumes for his management skills. We need to stick with him because he's the man to take us into the premiership. If the board at Forest don't act quickly, another club will snap him up and we'll be back facing another downward slide.
