Tranmere manager Ronnie Moore believes his side's pre-season friendly against Liverpool was a good work-out for all of his players.Liverpool counterpart Rafael Benitez ran the rule over his supporting cast as his side kicked off their pre-season schedule with a 1-0 win.
Defender Steve Finnan and goalkeeper Scott Carson were absent from the 21-man squad at Prenton Park, where it took a fine angled drive from Yossi Benayoun to clinch a comfortable victory.
Moore told the club's official website: "We wanted a work-out and it was good. It was great for our lads, you can't buy that experience.
"I don't think it will have done our lads any harm to have played against them and seen their movement, it was fantastic.
"It was never going to be easy against Liverpool. I was pleased with the work-out, it was what we needed."
