New Hannover signing Mikael Forssell had a debut to remember, scoring 10 goals as the Bundesliga side defeated amateurs FC Boffzen 23-0.
The Finnish striker had bagged his hat-trick within eight minutes in the pre-season friendly on Saturday, while fellow new-signing Jan Schlaudraff also scored three times in the convincing victory.
Jiri Stajner got in on the act with four goals and Mike Hanke grabbed a brace as all of Hannover's strikers had a field day.
Schalke celebrated a comfortable win too on Saturday with an 11-0 triumph over a local selection of amateur players coached by former Schalke favourite Olaf Thon.
Soren Larsen, Jermaine Jones and Gerald Asamoah all chipped in with two goals apiece.
Elsewhere, Juergen Klinsmann got his career as Bayern Munich manager off to a winning start with a 7-1 win over SV Lippstadt.
In front of 8,000 fans at the Stadion am Waldschlößchen, a second-string Bayern side raced into a 4-0 lead by half-time, before finishing off their lower league opponents after the break.
Klinsmann told the club's official website: "After two weeks in training, it was interesting to see what we were able to put into practice.
"We've trained very hard, we wanted to see what shape the lads were in, how we played when not in possession, and how the players supported each other. In this respect, it was basically a great game."

if only he could score that many goals for bham in one season...let alone in 1 match...
See, Forrsell does know where the net is....unfortunately for Birmingham he needs players around him who can play a bit...and pass him the ball......never mind
