Championship - Transfer Talk: Slight return

Eurosport - Mon, 14 Jul 12:49:00 2008

You have to feel sorry for Lee Cook. All he wants to do is go home.

FOOTBALL QPR Queen's Park Rangers Lee Cook - 0

The midfielder joined Fulham from boyhood club QPR just last summer for £2.5 million, but after not so much as a minute on the pitch for the Cottagers (hence no picture of him in the correct clobber) he was sent to Charlton Athletic on loan in January.

Now Fulham will only let the 25-year-old - who donated £250,000 as a parting gift to the then struggling Rs, back in the days before they were owned by Mittal et al - return to Loftus Road for £2 million. Talk about tight.

Ipswich Town, not content with chasing internationals Angelos Charisteas and Rudi Skacel, are now after another - Oman goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi.

The Tractor Boys will joust with West Brom and Galatasary for the right to sign the Bolton Wanderers man, who has decided to leave the Reebok Stadium now that Jussi Jaaskelainen has signed a new deal there.

Wolves are all set to unveil Charlton Athletic striker Chris Iwelumo as their replacement for the Coventry-bound Freddy Eastwood, just as soon as that postal order for £900,000 arrives at the Valley in the post.

Meanwhile, Kevin Foley could leave Molineux and head north for Blackburn Rovers in a £1.5 million deal.

Sheffield United's continued quest for compensation over the Carlos Tevez affair will not stop them going to Manchester United to see about signing winger Lee Martin for £2 million.

Just to make that journey through Snake Pass worthwhile, Blades boss Kevin Blackwell will also shoot up to Wigan and carry David Cotterill out of the JJB for £1.5 million.

Finally, Crystal Palace have offered Calvin Andrew an escape route out of spending the 2009/10 season in the Blue Square Premier by giving Football League disciplinary whipping boys Luton Town £400,000 for his services.
