Nice midfielder Cyril Rool is set to be unveiled at Marseille on Wednesday after passing his medical.

The 34-year-old underwent routine tests after the two clubs confirmed they had come to an agreement over the transfer.

Rool (pictured, right) will become Marseille's sixth summer signing after Lucho Gonzalez, Edouard Cisse, Charley Fomen, Souleymane Diawara and Stephane M'Bia.

The midfielder had a spell at Stade Velodrome when on loan from Lens in 2001 and has been tracked by the club since.

Rool spent four years at Nice, and also had a spell at Monaco after his brief stay at Marseille with then owner Bernard Tapie unimpressed with the player's temperament.

Coach Didier Deschamps' squad could further increase in number with Rapid Bucharest goalkeeper Elinton Andrade's transfer waiting to be confirmed.

Ex-Juventus boss Deschamps is also interested in Lille centre-back Adil Rami, who told Radio RMC that he would "play in the French Amateur League for six months" if his club did not allow him to leave.
