We chart Carlos Tevez's time at Manchester United and all the major developments of his transfer saga.
31 August 2006 - Signs for West Ham from Corinthians in a controversial third-party deal from the MSI company that eventually leads to legal action and a £20 million settlement paid to Sheffield United, who were relegated at the end of the season. Fellow Argentine Javier Mascherano joins him.
10 August 2007 - After an epic transfer saga, joins Manchester United on a two-year loan from MSI.
26 July 2008 - MSI chief Kia Joorabchian says he is confident Tevez will sign permanently with United: "Manchester United have been fantastic with Carlos - he's very lucky to have them and they are lucky too because he's been very good for them. It looks like it should happen - but we don't know the timing, whether it will be a month, two or six."
17 October 2008 - Tevez denies reports he is unhappy at United, despite the club's reluctance to pay MSI's £30m asking price to make the transfer permanent.
13 November 2008 - Argentina boss Diego Maradona reveals Tevez is unhappy at losing his United place to new signing DimitarBerbatov: "Tevez is worried about not being in United's first choice team."
5 January 2009 - Tevez says he is unhappy with manager Alex Ferguson's handling of the situation and says he has not been offered a new contract: "I didn't like him (Ferguson) saying I didn't like the offer I was made because neither my agent nor me were given one. I want to stay but the club have not made any offer. I've been waiting for them for a year and a half."
January 2009 - Real Madrid are linked with a £25m bid for Tevez, either in the winter transfer window or at the end of the season. Internazionale are also thought to be interested.
20 February 2009 - Joorabchian openly invites offers from clubs with United still refusing to make a permanent bid: "Carlos is in the market now that United have not made any move for him. We are now studying other options and interested parties."
22 April 2009 - Tevez hints that he will leave because he is not playing enough big games: "I have not played in important matches. The 'clasico' against Chelsea I did not play. Those are the games that I like to play in."
24 April 2009 - Ferguson insists United want Tevez to stay: "I think he genuinely wants to stay here and that is something we are trying to work towards. I have told him that repeatedly. And there is not much more I can do."
10 May 2009 - Tevez says he expects to leave the club, who he feels have treated him badly: "I don't think I will be a Manchester United player next season. I do not feel wanted. I feel bad over my situation. I do, but it's very, very difficult to stay any longer. I guess what I'm saying is goodbye."
17 May 2009 - Immediately after helping United clinch the Premier League title, Tevez repeats his intention to leave Old Trafford: "I know that I am not going to continue at Manchester United. I feel that they have lacked respect towards me."
June 2009 - New Real Madrid president Florentino Perez shows no desire to sign Tevez, but reported interest comes from closer to home in the shape of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City.
June 9, 2009 - Radio station TalkSport claim that Carlos Tevez has agreed to join Manchester City. No-one else has said it yet though.
June 15 - Despite Cristiano Ronaldo's record move to Madrid freeing up £80m for United, reports in England claim that Tevez will not stay even if they meet MSI's asking price. It seems the Argentine is tempted by Manchester City's offer of a guaranteed start and a bumper wage.
June 19 - The Sun reports that Carlos Tevez will only re-sign with Manchester United if they make him joint highest paid player at the club matching the £110,000 a week paid to Dimitar Berbatov and Rio Ferdinand. Sky Sports News reports that Tevez will not sign for Liverpool because of their rivalry with United.
June 20 - United confirm that Tevez will not stay at Old Trafford despite being offered a five-year contract. The club say they agreed a £25.5m fee with MSI but Tevez rejected the contract.
June 25 - Kia Joorabcian says a decision on Tevez's future will be made within 10 days, indicating that Manchester City is the most likely destinantion. "City is a club with most of the chances because they are building a big squad, but it is not a decisive point," he says.
June 26 - The Sun claim that Tevez will go to City after it is revealed that his four-year-old daughter, Florencia, has been enrolled at a Manchester private school.
July 13, morning - After a spell of calm while Tevez went on holiday, reports in England say he will sign for City in the next few days so he can link up with a pre-season tour of South Africa.
July 14, afternoon - Manchester City announce that they have completed the signing of the Argentine after he passed a medical and agreed a five-year deal at Eastlands. Tevez is presented at the City of Manchester Stadium with manager Mark Hughes saying: "Carlos is an international player of the highest class who possesses all the attributes that will help drive this club forward. I cannot wait to welcome him to City."

You 2 faced man ure @#$% slating Tevez as a money grabber then hero worshipping M. Owen. Your club treated him like @#$% and you deserve to loose him.
Enlighten me. Middle wastelands fans have slagged him off for being a money grabber and not being a top of the league player. Now he is there new god and proved he is a money grabber and not playing for a top of the league team. Silly me. They were right all along!!!!. Ha ha ha.
MAN U. ARE A YOU DYING TEAM OR WHAT IS IT MADNESS IMAGINE LAST YEAR ALEX LAMENTED THAT 'IF HE GOES SO I WILL GO' AND NOW HE HAS GONE ... WHY WONT YOU LEAVE THEN YOU ARE OLD AND SENILE
.... YOU BEST PLACE IS TO GO AND WORSHIP IN A CHAPEL ....
NOW THAT YOU ARE SELLING YOUR BEST PLAYER UNWILLINGLY BE SURE THAT THIS 2010 YOU LL NOT EVEN HAVE THIRD PLACE IN PREMIERSHIP AND FOR THAT OF CHAMPION LEAGUE THE KNIFE THAT YOU SHARPENED WILL CUT YOUR THROAT
....IF YOU .... MEET REAL THIS TIME YOU AND TEAM WILL REGRET SELLING RONIE...
REMEBER THE YEARS OF FABIAN BARTESS!!!!!!!! MAY HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF
to tykoh theres only one red man u
I agree 124. He lacked that final bit of quality. He was always on his way. Possibly Gill played stand off and lost but if SAF really wanted him they would have done it last year.
sick utd fans ah ah up the blues ...
Tevesz is all about the money. He has no loyalty and therefore will never have the respect he so desires. I'm not sad to see him go, I never thought he was all that great anyway. Yes, He's a bulldog on the field, but we don't need another one of those, we all ready have the best - Rooney.
man utd wont take him back ...neither will his mother...... maradonna thinks hes his love child .. whats the world coming to...
Are Man City really sure they own Tevez? Better check with HIS bosses first! Maybe the Sweet FA can be of assistance. If in any doubt, check the help they offered West Ham (cheating) United!
u guys are just underating arsenal who are goin 2 come out smoking this time around.Tevez has made his choice of club but to be in the top class, u must play day in and out in a top club.he will always be an underachiever!!! Phantom-x says so!
City Fans,
You are welcome to him. What no-one seems to have noticed is that Carlos does a great impression of a headless chicken but hardly ever produces the goods - apart from scoring against you lot at The Theatre of Dreams last time LOL. Hoping he just adds to the host of has-beens and nearly-men at Wastelands. Hope you sign JT for a million a month and still miss out on UEFA LOL....
why are these players paid so much money, they only train and go on weekends to enjoy themselfs and play football, and that is part of their fun, they dont work hard like the builders we have, the soliders that are fighting for the country or the nurses that are looking after lifes or the cares that are looking after our grandmothers or friends,so why pay them more when they do nothing but play the game they like.i would be happy to be paid for playing with my video game, nice, come one people lets stop these players from been paid so much when the are people out there that need so much help, why cant we do it like Italy,if you are from italy playing in italy u get paid more, why pay foreign players more and less for our own national team players,or let fight for a fix pay.not over a £80-000 a month, what do they do with £80-000 a week when the is some one getting paid ££900 a month and still taxed
Hi all,
Could you please help enlighten me on the correct colours to assign to a few teams:
1. Liverpool: The Reds?
2. Man U: The Reds? The Red Devils?
3. Chelsea: The Blues?
4. Man C: The Blues?
5. Everton: The Blues?
