LEADER - Woods -5 (67)
01:15 - That's it for our LIVE text commentary today folks. We'll be back tomorrow at 13:00, where you can follow all the action from what promises to be a fascinating second round at the 91st US PGA Championship. Thanks for joining me!
01:00 - Donald (-1) taps in for a par at the last to card a 71.
00.45 - Donald (-1) is really blazing a trail on the back nine. He gets to one under with a birdie at 16. Toms (-3) is in the clubhouse with a 69.
00.30 - What a shame for Poulter (E), who beaches his ball again at 18 and makes it back-to-back bogeys to finish with a level-par 72. He's still in the mix, but that will have hurt him. Cink (+1) cards a 73, which is quite something when you consider he stood at five over through five.
00.15 - Poulter (-1) finds the sand at the par-three 17th. He plays out beautifully, but misses a short putt for par and drops a shot. Singh (-3) is in the clubhouse with a highly polished 69.
00.00 - Donald (E) is back at level par after a birdie at 14. US Open champion Glover (-1) continues his topsy-tursy round with a birdie at the 16th to get into the red. Singh (-3) and Toms (-3) share the on-course lead.
23.55 - NEWSFLASH: Daly (+6) has withdrawn with a back injury after shooting a 78.
23.45 - Poulter (-2) plays a lovely approach into 16 and leaves himself about eight feet for birdie...it lips out. The Englishman can't quite understand it, but he's very much in the mix nonetheless. Singh (-3) plays a corking tee shot at the par-three 17th.
23.30 - Toms (-3) birdies 13 and 14 to move within two shots of the lead. Singh (-3) joins him at three under with a birdie three at the par-four 16th - set up with a delightful approach that almost drops for an eagle.
23.15 - Miguel Angel Jimenez (+2) birdies 15 to get a shot back. Monty (+2) is also moving in the right direction, with a three at the par-four 5th.
23.00 - Mickelson (+2) doubles the 10th, but gets a shot back with a birdie at 11. Ogilvy (-2) had made four birdies in nine holes. Poulter (-2) has a chance at 13...he very nearly makes it, but has to make do with par. Daly (+2) produces a remarkable escape to turn a poor drive into an eagle three at the 7th.
22.45 - Ernie Els (+4) is struggling. POULTER (-2) HAS ANOTHER BIRDIE to move inside the top 10 and three shots off the lead. Retief Goosen (+4) suffers a triple-bogey seven at the 10th to slip to four over.
22.30 - Pavin (-1) continues to go nicely, which is rather surprising when you consider the epic length of the Hazeltine course. Clarke (+4) has slipped away somewhat. Kjeldsen (-3) is now the on-course leader, after a birdie at the 2nd (his 11th). Singh (-2) birdies the 11th, but gives it straight back at 12.
22.15 - Poulter (-1) is starting to look a bit tasty out there. He thunders in a birdie putt at the 10th and gets into the red numbers. A couple more and he'll be right in there.
22.00 - As light rain begins fall at Hazeltine, Mickelson (E) plays a superb tee shot at the 8th to set up a good birdie chance..but he leaves it short. Singh (-2) finds the green from a fairway bunker at 10. Meanwhile, John Senden (-2) is going along nicely through nine holes. Denmark's Soren Kjeldsen (-2) is also making good progress.
21.45 - Poulter (E) rattles in a long one at the 8th and gets back to level par. Perhaps that's the inspiration he needed. Cink (+4) gets one back at the 7th. Singh (-2) has a birdie chance at the 9th...IN SHE GOES! The big man is making a move.
21.30 - The three 2009 Major champions, Angel Cabrera (+3), Lucas Glover (+1) and Stewart Cink (+5) are playing together and struggling to make inroads. David Toms (-2) birdies five and six. John Daly (+2) is wearing particularly heinous trousers today.
21.15 - Nobody out on the course right now is at better than one under. Woods (-5) is looking odds on to be our overnight leader. England's Oliver Wilson (E) is level through nine holes. Poulter (+1) finds the bunker with his second at the par-five 7th. And chips out safely.
21.00 - Geoff Ogilvy (E) had two early bogeys, but the Australian responds with birdies at six and eight to get back to level par. Mickelson (+1) is not quite firing. He misses a short one at the 5th to drop his first shot of the day. US Ryder Cup captain Corey Pavin (-1) is going well through four. Singh (-1) birdies the 7th.
20.45 - MIckelson (E) leaves himself with a tricky eight-footer for par at three. He absolutely hammers it home. That should give him some confidence. England's Luke Donald (E) is away with a par. Masters champion Angel Cabrera (E) is level through three. Poulter (+1) bogeys the 4th. Rose (+1) finishes bogey, double-bogey to card a 73. What a topsy-tursy round that was.
20.30 - Mickelson (E) settles for par at the 2nd and moves on to the epic 633-yard par-five 3rd. Colin Montgomerie (+3) has got off to a nasty start. Ian Poulter (E) is away with three straight pars. The Englishman showed a hint of form at Firestone last week and will be desperate to make an impression here. He's had a quiet year by his standards.
20.15 - Westwood (-2) is in with a 70. Matthew Goggin (-3) has a 69. Mickelson (E) takes a safe par at the 1st, but a delightful approach at the 2nd sets up his first genuine chance at birdie. Garcia (-1) has posted an opening 71.
20.00 - Phil Mickelson, David Toms and Paul Azinger get their rounds underway. All three find the fairway, and all three are safely onto the green with longish putts for birdie.
19.45 - Harrington (-4) pars the 9th to card a very impressive opening 68. Woods (-5) has a left-to-right 15-footer for birdie...not this time. The world number one has the clubhouse leader with a 67. Vijay Singh (E) gets going with a par at the 1st. Westwood (-2) birdies the 7th and stands at two under with one to play.
19.30 - Woods (-5) comes very close to another birdie at the par-three 17th, but has to settle for par. Harrington (-5) also makes par. McDowell (-2) is home with a two-under-par 70. Allenby (-3) now has the clubhouse lead after carding a 69. But Mahan (-3) soon joins him after bogeying the last.
19.15 - Woods (-5) reaches the par-five 7th in two. His leaves his eagle chance around five feet short, but sinks his birdie putt to take the outright lead. Westwood (-1) finally gets in the red with a birdie at the 5th (his 14th). Darren Clarke (E) pars his opening hole. McIlroy (-1) cards a one-under-par 71.
19.00 - HARRINGTON (-4) BIRDIES THE 6th to join Woods (-4) and Hunter Mahan (-4) at four under. Rose (-1) continues his remarkable recovery with his fifth birdie in six holes. Westwood (E) is level with five to play. Fisher (+1) is in the clubhouse with a 73.
18.45 - Harrington (-3) shaves the hole with a 20-footer for birdie at the 5th, but has to settle for par. Woods (-4) yet again holdes out from 10 feet to save par. On this form he's going to take some stopping this week. Goydos (-2) and Thongchai Jaidee (-2) share the clubhouse lead after shooting opening 70s. Rose (E) is fighting back. He's made four birdies in five holes.
18.30 - McDowell (-2) is putting together an immaculate round. He's not dropped a shot through 15 holes. If the Northern Irishman can just hold it together for the last three holes, he'll be very well placed. Wall (+5) and Dougherty (+8) are not enjoying themselves out there.
18.15 - ANOTHER BIRDIE FOR WOODS (-4). He moves into a share of the lead with Allenby (-4), Quiros (-4) and Bradley (-4). Harrington (-3) matches Tiger at the 3rd and stays just one behind the world number one. What odds that these two stay together all four days?
18.00 - Woods (-3) birdies the par-four 2nd, as does Harrington (-2). Quiros (-4) is back up alongside Bradley (-4). Allenby (-4) joins them with a fourth birdie of the day at the 14th. McIlroy (-1) has steadied the ship. He has four holes to play.
17.45 - Harrington (-1) drops a shot at the 1st (his 10th). Quiros (-3) also picks up a bogey and his lead lasts just a hole. Our new top dog is American Michael Bradley (-4), who birdies six, seven and eight and is yet to drop a shot.
17.30 - We have a new leader! Spain's big-booming, James Bond fanatic Quiros (-4) birdies 16 and 17 to get to four under through eight holes. Mallinger (E) has slumped to three bogeys on the bounce. Dougherty's (+7) pain continues.
17.15 - Woods (-2) makes a mistake at the 18th (his 9th) and leaves himself a tricky one for par...IN SHE GOES! Beem (-2) has birdied three in a row. Japan's Hiroyuki Fujita (-3) is the latest man to hit the top of the board. McIlroy (-1) drops another shot at the 1st. Veteran Kenny Perry (+3) is struggling through 10 holes.
17.00 - Dustin Johnson (-3) puts his name in lights at the top of the leaderboard. Quiros (-2) and Denmark's Soren Hansen (-2) are also moving in the right direction. Garcia (-1) recovers from a bogey at 14 with birdies at the 15th and 17th to get in the red numbers. Westwood (E) has one bogey and one birdie through six holes.
16.45 - 'Rock Star' Villegas (-3) bags three birdies on the spin to join the leaders. England's Chris Wood (-1) is going solidly through seven holes. Dougherty (+4) is having a day to forget. Harrington (-2) birdies the 16th to join Woods (-2) and McIlroy (-2).
16.30 - Woods (-2) moves to within a shot of a lead with a birdie at the par-five 15th. Harrington (-1) misses his chance, pulling a putt to the left to settle for par. Paul Goydos (-3) and Allenby (-3) gets up alongside Mallinger (-3) in a share for the lead.
16.15 - Woods (-1) and Harrington (-1) move to the par-five 15th. McIlroy drops a shot at the 16th and falls back into a share of second place. American John Malllinger (-3) now holds the outright lead. McDowell (-1) birdies the 6th and is going along very nicely indeed.
16.00 - MCILROY (-3) IS ON FIRE! Another birdie for the 20-year-old gets him to three under through six. Dougherty (+3), Rose (+3) and Anthony Wall (+3) are moving in the opposite direction. Spain's big-hitting Alvaro Quiros (-1) birdies the 10th to get to one under.
15.45 - McIlroy (-2) is making a move. A second birdie, at the 14th, takes him into the lead. Woods (-1) drains one at the 12th and the world number one has his first birdie of the US PGA Championship. Harrington (-1) also picks up a three at the long par four. Justin Rose (+1) and Fisher (+1) have both dropped a shot.
15.30 - The monster 606-yard 11th is up next for the marquee group. Woods (E) is on in three and down for a par, as are Harrington (E) and Beem (+1). Lee Westwood (E) pars the 10th to get going. Sergio Garcia (E) and Graeme McDowell (E) are level par through three holes.
15.15 - Camilo Villegas (-1) joins the leaders after a birdie at the 1st. The Colombian has been the model of consistency in recent weeks and has all the tools to mount a challenge at Hazeltine. JB Holmes (-1) is also up there, as is Australian Robert Allenby (-1). Half the field are starting at the 10th today by the way - in case you were wondering.
15.00 - Woods (E) plays a crisp approach to about 15 feet, but his birdie putt lips out. Harrington (E) goes over the top of the pin and leaves himself a decent uphill chance back for birdie. But he comes up short and has to settle for par. Beem (+1) drops a short after a poor opening putt. He looks nervous out there.
14.45 - Tiger Woods, Padraig Harrington and Rich Beem arrive at the 10th tee under bright sunshine. Harrington is safely down the fairway at the 490-yard par four. Beem follows him down the middle. Woods draws a three-wood and finds the light rough.
14.30 - Dougherty (+2) suffers a double-bogey six at the 1st. Leighton B writes: "I hope to see Westy or Fisher doing it, but you've really got to think Tiger's favourite".
14.15 - Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy (-1) gets the perfect start. Let's hope a birdie at the 1st sets him up for a low one today. Martin Kaymer (E) gets going with a par, as does Nick Watney (E).
14.00 - Fisher (E) pars the 1st and 2nd to get off to a solid start. The Wentworth golfer will be desperate to erase memories of the quadruple-bogey that sabotaged his chances at The Open.
13.45 - Baird (-1) birdies the 2nd. England's Ross Fisher is away at the 1st. We'll be keeping a close eye on his progress. Nick Dougherty is also an early starter. He tees off at 13:55.
13.30 - The 91st US PGA is underway! DJ Trahan (-1) gets off to the perfect start with a birdie at the par-four 1st. Briny Baird (E) and Keith Dicciani (E), a club professional both bag pars.
13.20 - NEWSFLASH: England's Paul Casey has withdrawn with a rib injury. The world number three, who has won three times this year and was among the fancied players to win at Hazeltine, left the decision until early this morning.
13.10 - YOUR VIEW: Let's get the ball rolling with some predictions for the week. Is Tiger going to stroll it? Can Harrington retain his title? Your thoughts please.
