Serie A - Beckham confident of Milan loan

David Beckham is confident of returning to AC Milan for a second loan spell in January as the England midfielder seeks to improve his chances of playing at next year's World Cup.

England manager Fabio Capello has already said the Los Angeles Galaxy player must return to a top European championship to have any hope making his squad for South Africa, prompting the winger to seek another stint in Serie A.

Originally overlooked by Capello, the 34-year-old won back his England place during a successful loan period at Milan in the second half of last term.

"It's simple - I want to return to Milan and Milan have said they would be happy to have me back," Beckham was quoted as saying in Friday's La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"If it's all right with Milan and it's all right with me, I don't see what problems there could be. No, I don't think there'll be any problems and I think I'll return when the transfer market reopens in January."

The player also dismissed speculation linking him to a return to the English Premier League.

"There's no danger of the destination changing," he said when asked about a possible move to Chelsea, now under former Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti.

"I was happy at Milan. I'd like to take things where I left off in May."

  5. PS, Beckham went with the mission of putting football on the map in the USA. Some idiots say he has failed. Football (Soccer,) was hardly ever mentioned on USA sports or news channels. Now it is headline news in the papers, on tv news and tv sports channels. For whatever reason, Beckham did what he set out to do, increase awareness of football in the USA. Now everybody is interested, especially since the bad fan reaction. Angry fans are filling what used to be empty stadiums, because of the publicity. Well done, once again you have succeeded in your mission Beckham. That just leaves the world cup, hahaha

  6. Well done Beckham. Proved again in another country and another team that you are a very highly rated player and for good reason. Where I live in Spain, the Real Madrid fans still rate you even though you played in a team of the great Galacticos. They thank you for winning La Liga for them in your last year, after the whole team told Capello to pick you again and their season changed from that moment on.

In Milan the fans love you for the great service you gave the short time you were there. Both the Spanish and Italian press said you were just a shirt seller, until you started playing, they then apologised because you proved it on the pitch.

Don't worry about USA though, because you play football and they play soccer, two different games completely.

We want you in South Africa because you can still make things happen on the pitch
