Ancelotti delighted with deserved win

Mon, 14 Sep 13:33:16 2009

Chelsea coach Carlo Ancelotti insisted that his side were good value for their last-gasp 2-1 victory at Stoke.

It needed a goal from Florent Malouda in stoppage time to extend the club's 100% record under the Italian to five matches.

Ancelotti said: "We got what we deserved because we tried to attack all the time. I am very happy because it was a difficult game."

He added: "We maintained good control throughout the match and that was important. We applied a lot of pressure and were rewarded for our play.

"We know all about Stoke and were not surprised by the way they play. We were ready for a physical match and knew how to deal with the long ball.

"A victory is always welcome and this is a very important period for us as we now have the Champions League ahead.

"To be top of the league is very important. We have good confidence in our play and a very good atmosphere in the dressing room.

"We are doing very well and want to continue in this good position for as long as we can. We have a very good squad."

Ancelotti could have Deco back for the visit of Porto in the Champions League on Tuesday after the Portugal playmaker was sidelined with a calf injury sustained playing for his country in midweek.

"We have to look at him as he has an injury," said the Chelsea coach. "We hope he can be ready against Porto."

  2. Sorry E live in Germany no Chelsea games on TV besides the Champion games we sometimes get. Okay so one loyal fan tells me 8 min during the first half and you say 5 min in the last half equils 13 min a little bit to extream for a high class team or maybe the ref figured there was a chance Stoke could get back in the game which was very unlikely but hey they had already scored 1 why. Maybe it was the Anchovies falt for not starting Anelkia and putting in Kalou which in fact did not score but hey Italiano maffia is the couch not me. So if I am not a die hard fan and do not live in England a live off drinking and international football and beating my wife then hell who am I to make an opinion on here. Besides that what does a it matter if or not people listen to me. Hey your reading this so you must have nothing better to do. Get a life people maybe we should have takin the draw and just face the fact that we had met our match and we could not find a way to get out in regular time. Have a nice day and a better week.

  3. So many Chelsea fans buying into all the anti-Chelsea garbage. Too much self hate among Chelsea fans, maybe we should just get behind our team.

  4. Hmm.. Stoppage time is based on injuries and stoppages during the game. Have you ever watched a game?

Here's some times from other games.

    Fulham v Everton = 6 minutes
    Man U v Tottenham = 4 minutes
    West Ham v Wigan = 5 minutes
    Man City v Arsenal = 5 minutes
    Bolton v Portsmouth = 5 minutes

    and Chelsea...5 minutes.

I don't think any referees are getting paid off? Or else they're all getting paid off huh? Watch a game now and then, you'll start to understand it better.

  5. Malcolm that is a ridiculous comment that essentially accuses Chelsea of greasing the palms of the refs.

That sort of slanderous @#$% may be expected of fans of other teams, but you should know better.

There were 8 minutes of extra time in the first half because there were so many stoppages (two injuries that led to substitutions to say the least), so maybe you should back up your stupid allegations of foul play with some real evidence next time. Chances are you'll come to realise you're an idiot without evidence and won't bother with stupid comments

  8. Malcolm, you absolutely right. It is embarrassing to see that since the beginning of this season, we (Chelsea) have been having the longest added time even when there is no reason for doing that except that we need a goal to win, and as soon as we get the winning goal the game is over...its pathetic and does not reflect a good team at all. Im a proud BLUES fan but a truth need to be told. Scoring late, getting added time that looks like extra time berate our toughness and ability. Above all, as long as we keep winning im much happier without minding how we remain on top.

EPL is ours. CL, im keenly looking forward to with eagerness.

    Chelsea rules 'em all!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a Chelsea fan but am very upset about the way Chelsea has ended some of the games. Scoring in Stopping time is like the ref is only keep going until Chelsea scores this is not only bad for the teams image but for the fans that love their club. I am not putting the manager down but making my team only look like it can win with paying the ref is not the answer for the team. I only expect the best for the Big blue and look forward for improvment and early scoring last minute scoring is great but for a final 1-1 tie breaker is not what I expect from a high class team.
