Lee Barnard is planning on remaining as Southend's penalty taker despite his costly miss against Leeds on Friday.
The seven-goal striker saw his effort saved by Shane Higgs as the two sides played out a goalless draw at Roots Hall.
Yet despite the disappointment of not being able to help his side to what would have been a notable scalp, Barnard is not willing to give up penalty taking duties just yet.
"I really can't remember the last time I missed a penalty and I'm just absolutely gutted," he told his club's official website. "I never even missed in the reserves at Tottenham so I was confident of scoring and I'm disappointed it didn't go in.
"The keeper has a good reputation and it was a decent save but I should have scored and I know that.
"I will step up again next time. Missing a penalty is a horrible feeling and one I don't want to experience again. The important thing is how you react and I'm determined to make amends."

Kismet, Lee! Sothend didn't deserve the pen and you knew it. A brilliant goalie with an ace save also helped to stop an injustice.
Leeds should have had a pen too yet it wasn't awarded (home side advantage?)but, on our present form, we wouldn't have converted it either. So stop bleating; you're lucky that the game ended honours even.
