Huddersfield manager Lee Clark has reiterated his belief that teenage goalkeeper Alex Smithies is destined "to go to the top".

Smithies, 19, kept his first clean sheet of the season in the goalless draw with Brentford on Saturday but has turned in a string of impressive displays since ousting Matt Glennon as first choice at the Galpharm Stadium this season.

Clark said: "I keep getting asked questions about him and my answers are always the same - he has all the attributes needed to go to the top.

"He's a fantastic young man as well as footballer, he's got a terrific attitude to the game and our goalkeeping coach John Vaughan has done a great job with him."

Smithies made his full debut in a 4-0 defeat at local rivals Leeds as a 17-year-old in December 2007.
