Ryan Giggs made history with his strike against Tottenham and the veteran has another landmark in his sights as Manchester United continue to prove there is life without Cristiano Ronaldo.
Giggs, a couple of months shy of his 36th birthday, is now the only player to score in every Premier League season after curling his free-kick into the top corner at White Hart Lane to spark United's comeback. It also took Giggs' goal tally to 149 for United, meaning he is one away from Ruud van Nistelrooy, who is eighth in the club's list of all-time scorers.
Giggs said: "I'm proud that I have scored in every Premier League season but hopefully that is not it. I don't want it to be my goal for the season. Hopefully I will score more."
He added: "I don't score as many as I used to but I try and score some important ones. The goal against Tottenham was probably one of them."
Giggs' goal cancelled out Jermain Defoe's first-minute scissor-kick, with Anderson establishing a lead and Wayne Rooney wrapping up the scoring.
With Spurs hoping to break into the top four, United's performance was a huge message to the rest of the league, especially as Paul Scholes was dismissed after an hour.
"It's well documented that we've lost Cristiano and Carlos (Tevez) but we have great players here and it gives you confidence when you come to a place like Spurs and get a result," Giggs added.
Rooney stretched Spurs' defence despite a lack of support late on, while Darren Fletcher ran the midfield. Ferguson was asked afterwards by a former United player if the Scotland midfielder gets paid double for doing the work of two men.
His fellow midfielder, Anderson, scored his first goal for the club and his 'machine gun' celebration suggested he was unprepared for breaking his duck.
Rio Ferdinand, who made his first competitive appearance of the season, said: "The lads have been seeing it from Ando. During the international break he as had time to train and he has been showing glimpses of what he can really do. Hopefully he can go on a good run now and score some goals because if he does that he can be a top-class player."

oh lord, not the whole liverpool thing again. yes on paper in the past you were very succesful but right now you arent really doing much. most liverpool fans use their collective success and cant depend on recent history i.e last 5 or 6 years. you will win the premiership one day :-)
Chrls79M'UTD4life,
No need for all your bull s h !t, just one very important fact for you,
"Liverpool, England's most successful club with 18 League titles and five European Cup triumphs,"
so when your team has reached this landmark then you can call them the best !
Jealousy just makes you green !
Post 16, mike, we would be in the s h!t because giggs is welsh,
God you man ure fans are so thick !
I will say just one thing .......... Imagine if he had continued to play for England ??????????.
We would be where we should be ....
#12 Chrls79M'UTD4life. Wow!!! That's for the non-believers. Nay a soul would match that today.
Giggs does not deserved to be called a legend. He is one. He's an example not just to the young ManUnited players but also to the other players in the BPL and maybe beyond. A true professional that a lot of the really young wannabes (kids) can learn from. Forget about the colour he's wearing just learn from his football. May he continue to serve ManUnited and score more goals. Go ManUnited.
Anyone who doubts Fletcher does not know football!

Ryan Giggs: United Legend! Most trophies, Championships etc of any Welsh footballer, most for any top flight pl;ayer in the English leagues. 36 and fit as a butchers dog, he'll pass Van Nistelwho and go on to keep breaking records. Deep Deep Respect, Ryan Giggs.
