Leeds players have already put the disappointment of losing their 100% start to the season behind them, according to manager Simon Grayson.
A dogged Southend display held Leeds to a goalless draw at Roots Hall on Friday and ended a run of six straight league wins for Grayson's side.
Grayson said: "They've had the weekend to rest their minds and bodies and we've started again for Gillingham now.
"Southend is a difficult place to go, teams do find it difficult there and they will get some scalps as the season goes on.
"From our point of view, to go seven games unbeaten is fantastic. We have to go through periods when we stay unbeaten and while I was disappointed not to keep the winning run going, a draw is the next best thing."
Leeds will attempt to secure a 15th successive home league victory against Gillingham on Saturday after setting a new club record of 14 straight league wins at Elland Road, stretching back to January when they lost 2-0 to Carlisle.
