Rankin revelling in Hughes regime

John Rankin feared for his Hibernian future when John Hughes arrived at the club - but he is now loving life under the former Falkirk boss.

Hughes has quickly stamped his own identity on his new side, making a number of signings - the latest being Liam Miller on Friday - as well as releasing those players he deemed surplus to requirements.

"Obviously, when a new manager comes in, there are always nerves," Rankin said. "A lot of us have been lucky enough that the manager has seen what we're like and has wanted to keep us here."

He added: "There have obviously been a few moved on since he came in. But, at the end of the day, he has got to do his own thing anyway and be his own man.

"Everything he has done has definitely been enjoyable, so if we can keep enjoying training and enjoying our football then it is only going to bode well for the club in the future."

Explaining the difference Hughes had made since his arrival, Rankin added: "The manager has come in with a positive mindset and it has certainly transferred to the players.

"We are all looking forward to playing on a Saturday - he has certainly put his style of play across and it suits our players very well.

"We are obviously learning the system still - we have only had the manager for a few months - but it has been great so far. Hopefully we can learn a lot better in the next couple of weeks and kick on from there."
