Wolves' England Under-21 defender Richard Stearman believes Premier League survival depends on tightening up at the back.

Stearman was disappointed with the 3-1 defeat at Blackburn and has called on his team-mates to sharpen up their defending.

"That was our worst performance of the season so far," Stearman told the club`s official website. "In this league it's going to be tough to come back from 1-0 down, especially away from home.

"We're confident we will always create chances and we did so again on Saturday. But we've got to be ruthless and put them away.

"That's not just in scoring goals but also in being ruthless defensively and keeping clean sheets.

"If we keep things tight we can stay in the game and give the strikers the chance to get us in front."
