SYDNEY (AFP) - Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik took an unwanted plunge into Sydney Harbour on Wednesday when the boat he was skippering at the World Masters Games capsized.
The prince, who is married to the Australian-born Princess Mary, was training on the water after his Tasar class race was called off due to bad weather when the accident happened.
Most competitors came back in after the race was postponed in the rough and squally conditions but Prince Frederik stayed out to practice with his crew mate, a spokeswoman for the games told AFP.
"He capsized the boat while he was training," she said. "They both fell in the water but they managed to right the boat and continue to sail."
A record 28,292 competitors from 95 countries ranging in age from 24 to 101 are taking part in the World Masters Games -- the world's biggest multi-sport event -- which run until October 18.
The minimum age requirement to compete in sailing events is 35.
