Henrik Larsson has expressed a desire to return to Celtic in a coaching capacity.

The Parkhead legend, 38, is poised to retire from international football with Sweden and could come to Scotland to study for his UEFA badges.

"I talk a lot with Celtic, although nothing is happening at the moment," said Larsson, who scored 242 goals for Celtic between 1997 and 2004 before joining Barcelona. "Hopefully, something will come up in the future but we'll just have to wait and see."

He added: "Everyone knows what my feelings are for the club. I will go to Scotland sooner or later.

"If I should become a coach, my ambition is to be the best I can be. That means I will have to leave Sweden."

The Scottish FA programme allows senior professionals with at least five years' experience to skip the introductory stages and begin with the UEFA B licence.

Larsson said: "I have gained a lot of experience over the years and I feel I'm on the right track to become a coach, but studying in the Swedish FA system doesn't interest me.

"Why should I learn everything from training boys to treating injuries? I would much rather get down to studying real coaching methods."

  7. That's probably true but one day I think the money bubble will burst, I watch LFC and there are signs that the money is not as readily available as it was, if we're not careful football clubs in Britain will go into meltdown like they did in Italy a few years ago, that is why there are more Italian players than foriegn in their league. They also don't pay the huge wages they used to, the same will happen here.

  8. Probably right f, but no one will come here unless they can play in Europe? Therefore players wont want to play in the Europa Cup. We won't be qualifying for the Champs League for some time, so we better get used to the second rate tourney

  9. Glad you see thing's from my point of view, but seriously what Scottish football could do with is a few players of the calibre that we have mentioned, it won't be easy tempting players like that, but I'm sure there are good players out there who would be willing to make Scottish football more attractive and who could help break the old firm strangle hold on the SPL.

  16. Matthew, Why you slagging Larsson off, he was a top player, he brought a new dimention to Scottish football, He's probably the best player to play in Scotland since Kenny Dalglish (LFC legend), so maybe he did'nt play for your team but you cant deny his talent, he may well prove to be a good coach, let's face it you need some decent coach's in Scotland.

Nice to see Larsson want to boss Celtic !!! He only went and took a £1m pounds off the eejits with his testimonial, then he left, came back and scored against them? wants to boss them and take more cash from them, Will they never learn. The guy left Scotland because he did not want his kids growing up SCOTTISH. (his own words) Say's it all really.
