Jones back in Pool plans

Hartlepool assistant manager Colin West admits Ritchie Jones has put himself firmly in contention for Saturday`s clash with Swindon after impressing for the reserves at Leeds.

Midfielder Jones has been out of favour in recent weeks following a below-par display at Colchester, but a stunning equaliser and good all-round display at Elland Road has put him back in contention.

West told the Hartlepool Mail: "Ritchie Jones was outstanding throughout the game and we got the right results from him.

"I spoke to him after the game and told him that if he does that on a regular basis, he wouldn't be in the reserves in the first place.

"He agreed that he needed that kick up the backside and he was honest enough to say that. He has performed on a big stage in Elland Road and has done the right things to get back into the first team."

Billy Greulich scored Pools` other goal in a 2-2 draw.
