Shrewsbury Town manager Paul Simpson has signed teenage Southampton striker Jamie White on a one-month loan deal from the Championship club.
White will go straight into the Shrews squad for Friday night's trip to Chesterfield with Simpson looking to add more pace to his front-line.
"We are lacking that little bit of pace in the squad and that is why I've decided to let Michael Symes go out on loan and to bring a young lad in from Southampton called Jamie White," Simpson told the club's official website.
"Jamie is 19 next week and is very sharp, can play either as a wide player or down the middle or even as a midfield player. He is a good football player who I am looking forward to getting to work with.
"He should have been in to train with us on Friday, but missed Thursday's training with Southampton as he had a slight bug. He's travelling up and will go into the 16 for Friday's game at Chesterfield.
"I've seen clips of him playing and people I know have given me good reports, at the moment he is scoring goals for the reserves and is one of a number of players who comes out of the youth set-up there and that they have high hopes of."
