Eurosport - Fri, 14 Nov 12:03:00 2008

Honda are ready to offer retired seven-times Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher a ride in the World Superbike Championship next year.

SUPERBIKE 2008 Michael Schumacher Honda - 0

Schumacher has taken part in German superbike races with Honda this year and recorded fast times on a Ducati in tests in Portugal last week.

"Michael is convinced that the German championship is right for him at the moment," Honda Racing's European chief Carlo Fiorani.

"For the moment he has not asked us to race in the 2009 world championship. But if he wants to, there is a way for him (to do it). All he has to do is ask us."

The 39-year-old Schumacher said earl this year that he had no intention of racing seriously on two wheels: "There'll be no second career on motorbikes," he said. "This is just a hobby."

  3. The man ostensibly has nothing to prove. He wants to have a bit of fun. Can't begrudge him that.

  6. greywarrior19, don't forget that he (Michael) first won on a Benetton Ford when it was underpowered (sure, after Senna died, but there where other Renault powered drivers to compete)...and when he joined Ferrari, the team was nowhere on the grid. He and Jean Todd brought the team at it's current level. He is not only a great driver but an awsome developer also.-

  7. Schumacher - the greatest sportsman ever ? !!! Don't make me laugh. He was a cheating hun who would think nothing of deliberately ramming opponents off the track to prevent them challenging him. He was very lucky to drive the fastest car available.
