Serie A - Team news: Kaka doubtful

Eurosport - Sun, 14 Dec 10:24:00 2008

Milan have delayed a decision on the fitness of playmaker Kaka for Sunday's game at Juventus.

FOOTBALL Serie A Milan Kaka - 0

The two rivals are joint-second in Serie A, six points behind leaders Inter.

"There isn't optimism or pessimism. He has a groin problem. It could be that he doesn't even train today, but he will leave with the squad for Turin," coach Carlo Ancelotti said.

Losing their main driving force would be a further blow to Milan, who will miss midfielder Gennaro Gattuso after he was almost certainly ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee ligament injury.

"This represents a battle for all of us, we are called to give something more to overcome his absence," Ancelotti added.

Ancelotti, a former Juventus coach, said the match felt just like a Milan derby.

"You have the same feelings everytime before such an important game, like what happens before a derby. A high level performance is needed and a win will be important," he said.

"There are 11 million Juve supporters but those who still hold grudges are few. For them I am a nemesis but this doesn't interest me."

Juve coach Claudio Ranieri, without winger Mauro Camoranesi after he failed to shrug off a shoulder problem, half expects Kaka to play.

"The great champions will do everything to be in this match. I would not be surprised to see him coming out of the tunnel," said Ranieri.

"Who loses will not be out of the title race but they will have to do something extraordinary to stay on Inter's trail."

Leaders Internazionale, six points clear of their two rivals, could be without striker Adriano for Sunday's visit of bottom side Chievo after media reports said the unfit Brazilian had again been sent home from training by coach Jose Mourinho.

Right-back Maicon is also not fully fit, media reports said, while centre back Marco Materazzi is out after having surgery on a broken cheekbone.

Roma aim to continue their rise up the table in Sunday's home clash with Cagliari but in-form Matteo Brighi is suspended and fellow midfielders Rodrigo Taddei and Alberto Aquilani are injured. David Pizarro could come into the reckoning.

  4. hang on..., how can you critisize chelski and mori (wjo are actually quite @#$%) when it comes to kaka? 1- morinho is NOT wasting his time (although he's a @#$%) and its sooner or later till chelski go downhill after the abro gets broke

  5. Why would he? If Abramovich's blood money still hasn't gotten that turd of a club one European cup I doubt Murinho can help more (its not like he did the first time anyway). The premier league is reaching the point of irrelevancy. Every major player wants out to join the likes of Real, Barcelona, Juve, Inter or Milan. And you cant really blame em since no major English club has a great club history. All major historical players played either in Italy and Spain and thats not gonna change.
