Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has gone back into hospital for a third operation on kidney stones, leaving assistant Sammy Lee in charge of the Premier League leaders.
Lee said he hoped the Spaniard would be back in time for the two derby matches against Merseyside rivals Everton.
"It's a difficult time for him because you know Rafa Benitez, all he wants to do is be out there on the training pitch with his players," Lee told the club's website.
"He's going for the third operation but we're hoping it won't keep him out for too long, hopefully just a couple of days."
Liverpool host the Toffees in the league on Monday January 19 before the teams return to Anfield for their FA Cup fourth-round tie six days later.

Oh No! number 113 comments about being an Arsenal fan and what kind of Manager Fergie would be if he had not got the money to spend,he is the best and does not need to spend a lot of money to prove it,the reason Wenger is in the state he is in is simply because he too, tried to buy the championship years ago, thats why he is in the position now, anyway why worry 113,he will be history next season in some foreign country, certainly not with Arsenal,he has trown his dummy out of the pram because he has no money to spend.A bad Manager will always blame his tools(players) in this instance it is Arsenals refusal to buy good players.I still hope you qualify for Europe next year

ManUtd for Premier League Champions!!
ManUtd for life!!!
The Liverpool fans should read what wassim.a wrote in this forum about ronaldo and rooney when they were/are injured. Wonder where he is now. Some of the remarks here are just as good as what he wrote. It is sad that football can raise such vile amongst the fans. I hope Rafa recovers soon. And this is from a ManU fan.
get well quick Rafa.
why open this to comment when we all know it is a forum for losers to hurl insults. Banter is banter but when a man is ill it's something else. When munich happened we don't insult man u fans about that, we're not that low.
