Premier League - Benitez back in hospital

Eurosport - Thu, 15 Jan 09:44:00 2009

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has gone back into hospital for a third operation on kidney stones, leaving assistant Sammy Lee in charge of the Premier League leaders.

FOOTBALL Premier League Rafael Benitez - 0

Lee said he hoped the Spaniard would be back in time for the two derby matches against Merseyside rivals Everton.

"It's a difficult time for him because you know Rafa Benitez, all he wants to do is be out there on the training pitch with his players," Lee told the club's website.

"He's going for the third operation but we're hoping it won't keep him out for too long, hopefully just a couple of days."

Liverpool host the Toffees in the league on Monday January 19 before the teams return to Anfield for their FA Cup fourth-round tie six days later.

  4. It realy is very disturbing to read some of the comments on here about Rafa - how can you possibly wish someone ill health or death - I think this goes to show that we still have a lot of idiots out there that really are not true supporters. I support The Arsenal but join in with true football fans in wishing Rafa a speedy recovery - I really hope Liverpool win the title this year as I know the Arsenal wont and I would hate for Manu to win it they are so pig headed. I oftern wonder what kind of a manager Fergie would be if he didn't have lots of money to spend. I bet he wouldn't manage as well as Mr. Wenger thats for sure.
