Defensive doubts for Cobblers

Fri 15 Feb, 02:00 PM

Northampton manager Stuart Gray has two key injury worries to contend with for his side's match against Gillingham at Sixfields on Saturday.Brett Johnson and Mark Little face late fitness tests after they suffered knocks in the 1-0 defeat at Yeovil on Tuesday.

Gray told the club's official website: "Brett is very much touch and go for Saturday and Mark is probably a little better than 50-50.

"Mark got a bad knock on his knee, he didn't train on Thursday but hopefully he will on Friday and we'll then reassess him from there."

Adebayo Akinfenwa is in line to make his first start for the Cobblers after scoring two goals in two substitute appearances.

Gray added: "Bayo was a bit unfortunate not to come on at Yeovil but because of the injuries we picked up on the night I didn't really get the chance to bring him on. He's getting sharper and stronger in training and he's not too far away from starting a game."
