Gary Speed is a major doubt for Sheffield United's FA Cup fifth-round tie against Middlesbrough at Bramall Lane on Sunday.The veteran midfielder suffered a recurrence of a groin problem in the midweek draw at West Brom and was forced out of the action just before the interval.

Chris Armstrong replaced Speed at The Hawthorns, but there are other options with Lee Hendrie and David Carney pushing for recalls.

Ugo Ehiogu is in a race to be fit to face his former club. The central defender missed out in midweek due to a hamstring strain and could be forced to sit out again.

But striker Jon Stead could return to contention after being sidelined for two matches with a hip problem and tonsilitis, while Rob Hulse could be brought back into the starting line-up.

Kick-off is at 2pm.
