Notts County produced one of their greatest displays of the season to hold title-chasing Peterborough to a 0-0 draw at London Road. But the value of this gutsy point was drastically reduced by victories for all of County's three main relegation rivals - Wrexham, Mansfield and Macclesfield.
The Magpies were rarely seriously troubled by their free-scoring hosts as Posh failed to turn dominance and possession into goals.
In fact veteran County stopper Russell Hoult was only required to pull off two noteworthy saves in the entire game.
One of those came from George Boyd as Posh piled on the pressure in the opening period but he was then relatively untroubled until clutching a late header from substitute Charlie Lee.
County rarely broke out of their defensive shell but did force record Posh signing Joe Lewis into a couple of saves during a brief attacking flurry around the hour.
