A Cliff Akurang double and a spectacular effort from Albert Adomah helped Barnet to a comfortable 3-1 home win over fellow strugglers Chester.A dire first half saw the visitors have the two best chances, Laurence Wilson's 30-yard drive and a superb volley from Paul Rutherford forcing acrobatic saves from Lee Harrison.
Barnet were a different side after the break and took the lead after 50 minutes. Akurang's pass caused hesitation in the Chester defence and Adomah nipped in, rounded John Danby and fired home.
Akurang might have doubled the lead with a shot cleared off the line but it took a controversial decision from referee Kevin Friend to give the Bees breathing space.
Akurang went down under challenge from Danby, who appeared to get the ball, but Friend pointed to the spot and Akurang picked himself up to lash home.
Victory was secured when the former Histon striker headed powerfully home from Ashley Thomas's cross 10 minutes from time before Mark Hughes scrambled a consolation for the visitors in stoppage time.
