Hereford's promotion campaign continued apace with a 1-0 win over Wycombe thanks to Russell Martin's bizarre own goal.Martin looked to have had a Clint Easton free-kick covered but the former Brighton defender headed the ball into the roof of the net with goalkeeper Frank Fielding stranded at the other post.
Wycombe swept onto the attack in the opening stages when their leading marksman Scott McGleish raced through but his goal bound shot was blocked by goalkeeper Wayne Brown, while Brown also saved from debutant Chris Herd.
Play continued to switch from end to end and just before the break Hereford stepped up a gear as striker Gary Hooper hooked a shot inches wide from the edge of the penalty area, while Fielding made a good save to deny Robinson.
On the stroke of half-time skipper Dave McCracken came to Wanderers rescue when he saved from McCombe on the line.
Early in the second-half Wycombe were back on the attack with Herd having a goalbound header cleared off the line by Ben Smith.
But it was Hereford who took the lead in the 72nd minute when Martin headed into his own net from Easton's deceptive free-kick - and although Wycombe tried hard to get on level terms Hereford held firm to stay third in League Two.
