Hatters see off 10-man Latics

Sat 15 Mar, 07:15 PM

Luton Town grabbed a first victory under manager Mick Harford as they blitzed 10-man Oldham Athletic 3-0 at Kenilworth Road.Goals from 18-year-old Ryan Charles on his home debut, Matthew Spring and Lewis Emanuel handed the Hatters a first win in 16 games after Reuben Hazell's 32nd-minute dismissal.

The Latics went into the game with an injury crisis that left them only able to field four players on the bench - and Luton took full advantage as Charles volleyed in his first professional goal 20 minutes in.

Hazell was sent off for hauling down Paul Furlong in the 32nd minute and Spring tucked home the resulting penalty for his 10th of the season.

The game was effectively over two minutes later as Emanuel ran onto Keith Keane's cross field pass and blasted in off the far post from 16 yards out.

Deane Smalley almost pulled one back for the visitors in first-half injury time but saw his one-on-one effort superbly saved by Dean Brill.
