Shefki Kuqi has spoken of his delight at coming 'home' to Portman Road on loan from Crystal Palace - and has targeted promotion. The 31-year-old has seen his chances limited at Selhurst Park and returns to his former club full of praise for manager Jim Magilton.
The striker told the club's official website: "I had the best time of my footballing life at Ipswich and feel like it is my home.
"Hopefully now I am here I can get in the team, score some goals and help the club get into the Premier League."
Kuqi had the most successful spell of his career at Ipswich from 2003-2005, appearing in 69 league games scoring 30 goals.
Palace assistant manager Mick Jones believes the club had little option but to let Kuqi return to Ipswich after the obscene gestures he made in a match against Wolves.
The Finnish striker has rejoined the Tractor Boys on loan until the end of the season, and Jones does not believe loaning him to a rival club will adversely affect Palace's play-off hopes.
"It's fair to say that he was never going to play for the club again after what happened off the field against Wolves and rightly so," Jones told the club's official website.
"There's no way anyone can condone that behaviour so the moment he made that gesture was the moment he finished his career at Crystal Palace, so it's best he moves on.
"Ipswich are in the promotion pack but they're also going to play teams who we need points off, so in a back-handed way it might do us a favour."
Kuqi, who spent two seasons at Ipswich, made inappropriate gestures to the crowd as he was being substituted during the Eagles' 2-0 home defeat by Wolves in February, prompting boss Neil Warnock to declare his Selhurst Park career over.
