Shrimps stop the rot against Bees

Morecambe recorded their first win in five League Two encounters with a well deserved 3-1 victory over Brentford at Christie Park.Second-half goals from Garry Thompson and Gary Hunter gave the Shrimps their first victory for over a month.

The home side took the lead after 31 minutes when Stuart Drummond heading home his second goal in three games after rising to meet Thompson's cross.

Glenn Poole then had a 34th-minute penalty saved by Scott Davies but Brentford did pull a goal back three minutes before half-time through Nathan Elder's excellent volley from the edge of the box.

Thompson then fired Morecambe back in front after 53 minutes with a low 12-yard drive.

Hunter headed a third two minutes from time after rising to meet Thompson's cross and Scott Davies then made two fine blocks in the final minute to deny Elder and Wayne Brown.
