Defending champions Coventry Blaze edged an 11-goal thriller at Newcastle Vipers.

David Longstaff put the hosts ahead after only 31 seconds before coach Rob Wilson doubled the lead.

Vipers hit three through a Curtis Huppe brace and Adam Calder before Todd Jackson levelled.

The visitors regained the lead with a powerplay goal from Jonathan Weaver before Jackson's second levelled.

Campbell restored the home side's lead but Huppe and Tom Watkins saw Blaze home.

Nottingham Panthers claimed a 4-2 win over Hull Stingrays.

The visitors opened the scoring with a goal from Rob Rankin but goals by James Ferrara and Mark Richardson put the Panthers ahead.

Jeff Glowa levelled but Matthew Myers and Sean McAslan sealed the win.

Sheffield Steelers claimed their eighth win in nine league games with a 3-1 home win over Sheffield Steelers.

Steelers went ahead through Jeff Legue and Joey Talbot.
