Humphries Takes Title

Tom Humphries, despite a sore Achilles tendon, won the UK Inter Counties and World Trials cross country in Nottingham.

Humphries, winner of of the English national title a fortnight ago, clinched the race by eight seconds in 37 minutes

three seconds ahead of Phil Wicks, with Mike Skinner third in 37min 19sec.

Laura Kenney, in the absence of the country's big name stars, impressively won her first senior title in 27:56.

The 22-year-old European Under-23 5,000m title holder held off the challenge of Jo Wilkinson, who finished ahead of Rachel Townend by a second in 28:09.
