Jo Pavey will open her competitive season at the Great Ireland Run in Dublin on April 6th.

As a result, the Commonwealth 5000 metres silver medallist will not be entering Sunday's Lisbon Half-Marathon.

Pavey will return from her training camp in Dullstroom, South Africa, for the 10 km run in Ireland.

The 34-year-old is aiming to become the first English winner of the race.

That will not be an easy task, however, as Benita Johnson of Australia and Aniko Kalovics from Hungary are also both entering the event at Phoenix Park.
