Austrian teenager Gregor Schlierenzauer won the overall ski jumping World Cup title after claiming victory ahead of Switzerland's Simon Ammann and Russia's Dimitry Vassiliev in Vikersund, Norway.

Schlierenzauer managed jumps of 207.5m and 192m to claim a total of 386.4 points, while Ammann took silver with 379.7pts and Vassiliev was third with 372.2pts.

Although there is one more round of the competition to go next weekend in Planica, Slovenia, Schlierenzauer cannot be caught by Ammann, who is second.

The 19-year-old Schlierenzauer has dominated this winter with twelve victories - a new record in the history of the World Cup - and has been on podium 19 times out of the 25 meetings.

Schlierenzauer, who hails from Innsbruck, takes over from compatriot Thomas Morgenstern, who won the crystal ball in 2008.
