Atletico Madrid head coach Javier Aguirre has denied reports that he has turned down an offer to return as Mexico boss.Reports in the Spanish media claimed the 49-year-old boss was offered the job following a meeting with Mexican football association vice-president Decio de Maria on Monday.
However, Aguirre has rubbished those suggestions claiming the meeting was organised to discuss other matters relating to the Tricolor squad, which he led to the 2002 World Cup in Japan and Korea.
Mexico have been without a coach since Hugo Sanchez was sacked last month.
And Aguirre told Cadena Ser: "I haven't been offered the national-team coaching role.
"We've just talked about what coach I would like and how Mexican players are playing here (in Spain).
"They know I have a contract with Atletico Madrid. They know I only move with a contract."
