Dudfield 'itching' to get on pitch

Tue 15 Apr, 04:00 PM

Notts County striker Lawrie Dudfield admits he is "itching to play" for the Magpies following a two-month lay-off with a broken wrist. The 27-year-old appeared as a substitute in the last 30 minutes of County's 1-0 win over Accrington on Saturday and is intent on helping Ian McParland's side secure their Football League status for next season.

County are five points away from the relegation places in League Two and Dudfield, who has netted three times this term, is hopeful of playing a prominent role in the fight against the drop.

"I haven't been sat on my backside for two months, I've been working hard and I hope in the last three games I will get a reward for all that hard work," he told the club's official website.

"I've been fit for two weeks so I had to be patient in waiting for my chance because I have really been itching to play. If I didn't believe I was good enough to be in the team I wouldn't be here and I certainly would not have worked as hard as I have to get back to this stage."
