Dundee United have signed former Sunderland, Leeds United and Dundee striker Kevin Smith until the end of the season. The 21-year-old has been given the opportunity to resurrect his career after recovering from two knee operations.

Smith was set to turn out for the reserves against Aberdeen on Tuesday.

"Kevin has been here for a while, looking to get over a knee injury," United boss Craig Levein told the Dundee Courier.

"But he's fit enough to play now and we've signed him on a contract until the end of the season so he can take part in reserve games."
