Inverness assistant manager Malky Thomson has denied making an illegal approach to two players at League Two outfit Chester City.Chester director Bob Gray has vowed to report Caley to the Football Association over the alleged offers to two unnamed players.

Thomson returned to Inverness in December after a spell as number two to then Chester boss Bobby Williamson.

He told Caley's website: "I have just found out about the Chester City allegation myself and it has come as a surprise as we would never do anything illegal at ICT.

"I am of the understanding that we haven't approached anyone illegally and certainly over the next day or two, the matter and confusion will get cleared up.

"I watched the Shrewsbury v Wrexham game on Sunday and I bumped into Simon Davies, the Chester City manager, and also Bob Gray, Chester's chief executive, as well as bumping into a number of players which I know from the league. So whether it has come from that, I don't know."
