Nick Barmby has been included in the Hull City squad for their clash with Barnsley at Oakwell.
Hull missed the chance to move into the automatic promotion places when they were held to a 1-1 draw by QPR on Saturday.
A Michael Turner equaliser in injury time salvaged a point for the Tigers, and boss Phil Brown believes their fighting spirit will hold them in good stead for the run-in.
"If you'd said to me at the start of the season that with four games to go, a win at Barnsley would take you into the top two, I'd have taken that. I think any manager in the Championship would have taken that scenario," he said.
"Of course you want to win every game but we've taken a point from Saturday. As well as that, we've shown that desire and determination not to get beat when we're not at our best."
Winger Richard Garcia (shoulder) and striker Henrik Pedersen (hamstring) are both injury doubts.
As for Barnsley, manager Simon Davey is considering changing a winning team for Tuesday night's crunch clash.
The Tykes' despair at losing to Cardiff in the FA Cup semi-finals was compounded by their descent into the Championship relegation places, but successive wins have lifted them to 17th - four points clear of the bottom three.
Striker Daniel Nardiello has recovered from a hamstring injury while winger Martin Devaney returns from a thigh strain.
Barnsley will definitely be without captain Brian Howard, who has recovered from an ankle problem only to be ruled out by illness, while winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce may also be given a rest.
Meanwhile, Wolverhampton Wanderers will again be without midfielder Karl Henry when they take on Black Country rivals West Bromwich Albion at Molineux.
Henry missed Saturday's 0-0 Championship draw at Bristol City because of a groin injury and has failed to recover in time for the eagerly-anticipated derby clash.
Darron Gibson deputised at Ashton Gate and could keep his place, although David Edwards is pushing for a return after missing out on a place in the squad at the weekend despite recovering from his groin problem.
Long-term absentees Michael Kightly (ankle) and Stephen Ward (tendonitis) will step up their returns in a behind-closed-doors game earlier in the day as they look to get back to full fitness before the end of the season.
West Brom could welcome back Martin Albrectsen, after the Danish defender missed Saturday's 1-1 draw with Blackpool as a result of a groin injury.
Manager Tony Mowbray has also hinted striker Kevin Philips may be resigned to a place on the bench.
"I will pick the team that is fit and that is going to do damage and get the result we need,"' he said. "Recently Kevin has scored goals coming off the bench and that might be a potent weapon for us - we will have to wait and see."
