What's that you say? Middlesbrough relocating north of the border like some soulless American sporting franchise? You gotta be kidding me?
Maybe Gareth Southgate thinks his team can win the SPL? Maybe it's the only way to avoid a season in the Championship? Or maybe the Scotland in question is not a country at all.
Okay, it's time for the Shop to 'fess up' and admit our cheap-shot headline alludes to Boro's interest in Swansea hitman Jason Scotland.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Trinidad and Tobago international has attracted the attentions of Boro chief scout Gordon McQueen and is a wanted man at The Riverside.
Boro boss Gareth Southgate is so taken with the 30-year-old striker he wants him whether his side is in the Championship or the Premier League next season - but Scotland may need some convincing if Swansea and Boro move in opposite directions.
Meanwhile, Barcelona have become the 'latest big-name club' to cast an eye over Liverpool defender Daniel Agger.
Livepool are reportedly readying a £55,000-a-week deal to keep the Dane at Anfield, but he is apparently not swayed by financial matters. Yeah right.
Down to North London now, where Tottenham's happy shopper Harry Redknapp has Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones on his wanted list.
A price of £10 million has been bandied about for Jones, who surely can't do any worse in a Tottenham jersey than Darren Bent.
Spurs are also interested in Middlesbrough and England winger Stewart Downing, but we really have no basis for that one so we'll leave it at that.
Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill is keen on Belgium international Steven Defour, but is not prepared to "pay over the odds" according to the Daily Star.
Quite what the odds are has always been unclear to The Shop. Can anybody clear that up?
Standard Liege are apparently waving a figure of £15m in the air, but it's yet to be seen if O'Neill will go above the £500,000 he has withdrawn from Villa's saving account.

Downing should not go to Spurs or any London club for that matter. If he decides to leave Boro I would advise him to go to Villa or Man U or even at a push Liverpool. I say this becasue all play good attacking football and less distractions than London.
At Villa O'NEILL knows how to manage people and that would help Downing a great deal.
neildrees, you missed several mistakes in that post, made incorrect amendments and then followed it with your own thoughts that contained several grammatical errors as well as very poor english and sentence forming.
I should suggest if you are so hung up on literacy and intellect you pick another hobby rather than football, the modern game is practically devoid of it.
Why are you so hung up on spelling and grammar? It's only a bloody post on a website not a thesis; did you have difficulty understanding what he was trying to put across?
'spoted' aarrrggghhh I give up!!!
Please tell me you're taking the mickey stewilson!

I'm not old (in my twenties) Yes, I do have a girlfriend, and I go to football matches often.
If you want to get your point across, it's likely to be taken much more seriously if the majority words were spelt correctly. Anyway, all the best and Brian Marwood to Barcelona for £25 million ?!?
well spoted lol
Classic typo irony there!
John, you may want to chack YOUR spelling as there's no such word as "alot"

steven defour is the next pirlo he is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy yyyy better than gareth barry
Looks like Southgate is getting ready for the Championship by buying a championship level striker in Jason Scotland. He's okay in the Championship but falls far too short of Premier league standard. Boro are doomed and Southgate knows it.

Dumba**es, the name itself is GOSSIP SHOP. Should be just for fun. Why you wanna take it seriously? If you're not satisfied, just leave yahoo then.
Why don't Tottenham and Redknap just make a blanket statement to say they are interested in every player that is remotely available? It is so annoying to read of Spurs constant interest in all transfer targets. I think Harry believes that if he buys loads of players then one or two of them must turn out OK. He has bought some right duffers over the years but gets a reputation as a transfer genius.
Invalid comment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is a couple of comments made without reading the article properly. The best being one made by Paul Budding, or should it be Pudding?
