Pre-season training is already under way for a number of Gillingham players as boss Mark Stimson prepares for life in League Two.Fitness coach Danny Ellis has been overseeing the early training sessions and Stimson has been delighted by the attitude of his players.

"It's been brilliant," the Gills manager told Kent Online.

"Last week we had three players who worked twice last week and they were back in Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and their attitude has been first class.

"Some of the players are on holiday and some are chilling and it's not compulsory."

He added: "Players have to look after themselves and if they want to come in and work on the basics then they can do that. It's been spot on and if they want, they can stay on and play me at tennis - although there has only been one taker so far."
