Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp is being tipped to quit football after his side's FA Cup final against Cardiff.

The 61-year-old former West Ham manager is reportedly concerned about the welfare of his wife following an infamous dawn raid on his family home by police investigating alleged corruption in football, and the Daily Mail have claimed that sources close to Redknapp are worried he may retire from football.

Sandra, his wife, also recently lost her twin sister Pat Lampard - mother of Chelsea and England star Frank - which, according to her husband, left her "inconsolable."

Redknapp is furious that police raided his house while he was away on a scouting mission last November, and his anger was heightened by the fact that they were accompanied by journalists.

He has since launched legal proceedings against the police and, coupled with the booing that rang out following his side's final-day loss to Fulham at Fratton Park, the man who turned down a multi-million pound contract to manage Newcastle earlier in the season is reportedly ready to walk away from the game entirely.

"It slaughters me," he said of the fan reaction. "They have obviously not been coming here for the last 40 years and watching a load of dross.

"It is those who have jumped on the bandwagon in the last year or two who don't know what we've done. We've finished eighth in the league and got to the Cup final.

"I think people have to realise it isn't going to get much better."

Portsmouth are favourites to beat Cardiff, and a win would give their manager his first major silverware.
