Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone has been drafted into a strong England Under-21 squad for the friendly with Wales at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground to replace the injured Mark Noble.
West Ham's Noble pulled out after picking up a knock to hand Huddlestone another chance to impress after being called into Fabio Capello's senior squad for the friendlies against the USA and Trinidad and Tobago.
Capello has also selected Joe Hart, Gabriel Agbonlahor, Theo Walcott and David Wheater for the senior squad but all of them could feature for the Under-21s at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground.
On-loan Manchester United striker Fraizer Campbell did not join up with Stuart Pearce's squad as he is preparing for Hull's Championship play-off against Watford, while keeper Tom Heaton is on Champions League duty with Manchester United.
Along with Noble, Danny Fox (Coventry) and Matt Connolly (Arsenal) have pulled out through injury, meaning Pearce will have 19 players to choose from in his squad.
England's youngsters have virtually assured themselves a play-off to reach the European Championships next summer in Sweden after Pearce led them the semi-finals a year ago.
Pearce's side have remained unbeaten since, although he has rested senior players such as regular captain Steven Taylor and Newcastle team-mate James Milner for his friendly.
They will be captained on the night by Middlesbrough defender Wheater.
Wales boss Brian Flynn, meanwhile, has named a strong squad featuring six full internationals and several players tipped for call-ups in the near future.
Senior caps Wayne Hennessey, Chris Gunter, Neal Eardley, David Cotterill, Lewin Nyatanga and David Edwards are in the squad, while Jack Collison, Sam Vokes and Ched Evans are expected to be called up to the full squad for the Iceland and Holland.
Over-age Oldham striker Craig Davies, 22, was also included as a late addition.
