The fourth fixture on the FIA World Touring Car Championship calendar takes in another street circuit, but the Pau route bears little resemblance to the previous event in Marrakech.
While that circuit in Morocco, the latest to have been built, is distinctly urban, Pau is the oldest still in use in Europe.
The superb, technical circuit in the quiet city near the Pyrenees hosted its first car competition all the way back in 1901.
Pau has a typically-French atmosphere and is a cherished fixture on the calendar.
BMW drivers Augusto Farfus and Andy Priaulx won the races last year but four SEAT drivers are dominating the standings this season, with Yvan Muller, Gabriele Tarquini, Rickard Rydell and Jordi Gene at the summit.
Chevrolet's Alain Menu took a victory there in 2007 while Farfus secured the win in race two of that year.
The event signals the series' arrival in Europe, where it will remain until the final two races of the season.
